Dr Naylin Appanna is a New Zealand physician with a background in obstetrics and gynaecology, with extensive experience in both private and public healthcare settings.
His clinical work focused on the management of a wide range of women’s health conditions, with particular interests in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and patient-centred care.
During his clinical career, Dr Appanna provided specialist obstetric and gynaecological services in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions.
His practice included the assessment and management of both routine and complex presentations, with an emphasis on careful clinical decision-making and continuity of care.
His work included the management of these complex gynaecological conditions, advanced laparoscopic procedures, and comprehensive obstetric care.
He worked closely with general practitioners and other healthcare providers to deliver coordinated and effective patient care.
Dr Appanna has had a strong interest in education and professional development throughout his career.
He regularly provided educational updates for general practitioners within the Waikato region and contributed to the development of patient education resources.
Dr Appanna also developed a number of educational videos for both patients and healthcare professionals, aimed at improving understanding of common gynaecological conditions and investigations.

He served on the Board of Examiners for smear-takers at Waikato Polytechnic, supporting the training and assessment of healthcare professionals involved in cervical screening.
He was an early adopter and advocate of advanced gynaecological laparoscopic techniques in New Zealand.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Appanna has been actively involved in community and sporting initiatives.
He supported regional sport through sponsorship of the Waikato Under-21 and Under-23 netball teams, as well as the Waikato Magic.
He also supported local schools by providing sporting equipment used in school events across the region.
Dr Appanna was involved with Insight Endometriosis, contributing to community awareness of endometriosis as a significant women’s health condition.
He has also been a member of the Waikato Rugby Supporters Club Committee.
